Bible Saturday 5/1: Zeal for God

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 146:1-10. Verse 3, as a Christian, have I conceded more power than I should for government to do or bad things to all of us? Is my church alert to this matter? Action point?

Exodus 20:1-12. Related question, given that the Ten Commandments are written on the wall of the US Supreme Court, why aren’t they more prevalent in our public life and why don’t Christians object?

I Corinthians 5:9-13. Related again but individual, am I sometimes careless about the moral and spiritual quality of influences working upon me? Is my church careless about disciplining members?

John 2:12-25. Verse 17, who is a good example of zeal for God, someone I know personally? If I had more zeal, if my fellow believers had more zeal, what would that look like? What might be the results?
