Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 42:1-11. Verse 4, what are the times gone by, on which I look back wistfully or sadly? What is God’s consolation and remedy for that today?
Exodus 37:1-29. What aspect of the unknown future have I been anxious about, for which I can trust God’s precise provision just as Bezaleel trusted God’s unerring blueprint?
I Corinthians 12:1-11. What is one or more spiritual gifts that I feel God has placed in me? What steps can I take to utilize that gift for his glory, more fully this year than ever before in my life?
John 15:1-8. Related question, what exactly is the fruit Jesus expects of me, in specific terms others could notice? What purging or pruning by him may await me in order to achieve such fruitfulness?
