Bible Wednesday 5/19: What a Friend

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 46:1-11. Verse 10, what thoughts, feelings, and impulses must I cause to be still today, in order to center upon God alone?

Exodus 38:1-31. Verses 22 and 23, under these two foremen must have been many devoted workers. Who are the unsung “worker bees” that keep my church going? How shall I pray for them today?

I Corinthians 12:12-17. Source of the “church membership” idea. Being a member is discounted in many congregations these days. What would the great church planter Paul say about that theologically?

John 15:9-17. Observing me this week, would Jesus say that I have behaved toward him as a good friend? Action point for today?
