Bible Saturday 8/7: My Deliverer

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 91:1-16. How can I apply this depiction of God actively loving us, dispelling dangers, keeping promises, to my prayers today for his protection and help against the global pandemic?

Hosea 12:1-14. God grieves that the Israelites have fallen away from Jacob, their patriarch. Who is someone that I admire as a spiritual role model, and whom I can strive to emulate more today than yesterday?

II Peter 2:1-11. Verse 1 KJV, damnable heresies. Verse 4, fallen angels. Verse 9, punishment on Judgment Day. How well does my theology, and that of my church, address these oft-ignored teachings?

Mark 14:32-42. Verse 36, what is the hardest test I’m facing right now, to live by Jesus’ prayer of “Thy will, not mine”? How can I obtain more strength to meet that challenge?
