Bible Friday 8/6: Transfigured

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 8, does seeking God’s face involve something more than my everyday mentality and prayers to him? How can I know if I’m getting anywhere?

Hosea 11:1-12. Verses 4 and 7, God’s sorrow over his wayward people. When have I saddened him by ingratitude, disobedience, backsliding? What did I learn?

II Peter 1:10-21. Verse 20, no private interpretation of Scripture. What does this require of me as I study and apply the Bible day by day? Why does it matter?

Matthew 17:1-13. Verses 5 and 9, how were the disciples better messengers of the gospel by what they saw and heard here. How is Jesus’ transfiguration of direct benefit to me today?
