Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 140:1-13. Appealing for God’s protection against the doers of violence. How can I apply this to threats of terrorism in the present and future?
Joshua 19:1-51. God’s equitable division of lands among the tribes not yet provided for. What concerns of “not enough” or “not fair” are nagging me, which I can today turn over to our just and generous God?
Amos 8:1-14. Verses 11 and 12, a famine of God’s word, the worst of all scarcities. As today goes along, will I be found feeding hungrily upon the Bible, or lazily browsing in it?
Luke 5:27-32. Who might Jesus keep company with, if he were here, that might surprise and upset many Christians? Action point for me?
