Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 48:1-14. Verses 2, 3, 12, and 13, walk about Zion. How does my attentiveness to God’s heavenly city bring out new possibilities for me in mankind’s earthly city?

Judges 16:1-31. Samson forsakes God but God does not forsake him. When have I learned an important lesson the hard way? Present application?

II Corinthians 11:16-33. What it cost Paul to follow Jesus and preach the gospel. What has discipleship cost me? What may be my next step on the ladder?

Luke 9:18-26. Verse 23, related, what would it look like for me to take up my cross today, this very day. naming the name of Christ?
