Bible Tuesday 9/21: Get Serious

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 58:1-11. Verse 4, what are some of the poisons Satan lets loose in the world to permeate human hearts? How will I encounter them today? What is God’s remedy?

Judges 19:1-30. Lawless Israel, scene of lust, rape, murder, mayhem. Why is this horrific story in the Bible at all? Does my church take sin as seriously as God wants us to?

II Corinthians 13:1-14. Verse 5, examining myself today, what are two or three things I notice that must be rooted out with Christ’s help, if I am to faithfully dwell in him and he in me?

Luke 9:43-50. Verses 47 and 48, what are some practical ways, not forced or extreme, that I can lessen myself and become more childlike in Jesus’ name today?
