Bible Monday 9/20: Moral Anarchy

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 17, is my prayer more by pattern or by situation and need? Are the quantity and quality of my prayer all that God wants them to be?

Judges 18:1-31. The tribe of Dan gets its way by force. In an often godless culture where might makes right, what alternative way of life does my church offer? How do I answer those who say it’s hopeless?

II Corinthians 12:14-21. Paul’s selfless shepherding of the flock under his care. Who stands in this role of a shepherd to me? Am I suitably responsive and grateful?

Luke 9:37-42. Verse 41, that sinking feeling of knowing that my conduct has disappointed Jesus. Has this happened recently? What did I learn?
