Bible Tuesday 1/18: Quiet Power

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 46:1-11. Verse 10, by what practical steps can I be still and draw near God amidst all the distractions of this busy, noisy day?

Deuteronomy 18:1-22. Verses 12-14, occult beliefs and practices forbidden. In what guise do these evil teachings seduce Christians nowadays? What is God’s remedy?

Hebrews 8:1-13. Verse 10, God will make us new from the inside out. Honestly searching my heart and mind, what do I find that still awaits this work of renewal? Action point for today?

Matthew 7:1-6. Verse 5, related question, toward whom have I recently been critical or judgmental, forgetting my own glaring faults which must surely displease God?
