Bible Sunday 10/23: Christ Alone, Cornerstone

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 118:1-29. Verses 22-24, how does the oft-quoted “This is the day” take on greater meaning and force in context with Jesus Christ being the cornerstone of our whole world, my own life included?

Nehemiah 10:1-39. Verse 35, how faithful is my family to the ancient practice of bringing God our first fruits and our tithes?

Galatians 4:21-31. How will I think, speak, and act today when presented with the choice of living out my old fleshly birth or my new birth in Jesus Christ?

Luke 13:31-35. Verse 32, that fox, King Herod. Amid the intensity of this political season, am I grounding myself in Jesus’ calm confidence that the last word belongs not to earthly rulers, but to Him?
