Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 143:1-12. Verse 10, what are the steps involved in having God teach me something? Have I undergone that recently? What shall I ask God to teach me in 2023?
Isaiah 63:1-19. Verses 8 and 9, what affliction am I experiencing at present, of which Jesus in his love and pity also partook? What’s therefore my expectation today?
Revelation 20:1-15. Heaven and hell at the end times. Do I take this, and does my church take this, as seriously as Christians have taken it for 2000 years? What’s at stake?
Matthew 2:1-18. Verse 16, how does the murderous, merciless hatred by worldly powers against the Son of God show itself at the present day? What should I be doing about it?
