Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 70:1-5. Verses 1 and 5, make haste, O God. What am I waiting for from God right now where the delay seems intolerable, where I want him to hurry up? What do the Bible and my experience teach me about his perfect timing?
Jeremiah 42:1-22. Some Jews come to Jeremiah pretending to want honest prophecy but actually seeking validation of their self-will. When have I tried to “use” God in that way; even right now?
II Timothy 2:1-13. Verses 3-5, soldiers of Jesus Christ. What are some things Jesus wants me to do today, and not do, in order to be his good soldier?
Matthew 24:29-35. Related, if Christ returns today, what do I want him to find me doing?
