Bible Saturday 7/23: Above All

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 64:1-10. Verses 3 and 7, arrows of the Enemy and arrows of God, exchanging volleys on the battlefield of thought. What’s an example of each that I should be alert for in the doings of this day?

II Samuel 16:1-23. Verses 10-12, cursed and taunted by a relative of Saul’s, David turns the other cheek. What opportunity may God give me, today or one day soon, to return mildness for ill treatment?

Acts 15:1-12. Verses 8-11, Peter insists that Jesus saves by grace and faith, not by legalism. How do I sometimes get entangled with works righteousness? Action point for today?

Mark 9:2-13. Verse 5, transfiguration of Jesus; Peter wants to linger. As a disciple, how shall I rightly balance my mountaintop times with God and and my servant duties down below with the multitudes?
