Bible Friday 7/22: Seeking Him

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 56:1-13. Verses 3 and 4, what’s the worst fear pressing on me at present? How does God quell and defeat that fear?

II Samuel 15:1-37. Absalom’s coup to seize the kingship from David. Verse 34, Hushai left behind as a spy. Are the ethics that God requires of us absolute or situational?

Song of Solomon 2:15-3:11. Why do some interpreters apply this love poem to Mary Magdalene’s adoration of the crucified and risen Jesus? Is my devotion to the Lord well balanced between reason and emotion?

John 20:1-18. With Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John all at the tomb as Easter dawned, why did she alone actually see Jesus? What qualities in her love for him shall I ask God to instill in me today?
