Bible Thursday 7/21: Home Alive

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 17, is my prayer life from day to day as structured, focused, and consistent as I would like it to be?

II Samuel 14:1-33. David’s son and general scheme against him. In many centuries of what is called progress, why are families today often as dysfunctional as those of ancient times? What can I do about it?

Acts 14:21-28. The apostles fearlessly retrace their steps through cities that almost murdered them. What have I left undone in my life, for which the time has now come to face and settle it with God’s help?

Mark 8:31-9:1. Verses 34-37, in the specific demand Jesus makes on me for this moment in my story, what does he mean by denying myself, taking up my cross, and losing my life for his sake? First step today?
