Bible Tuesday 7/26: Bland Leading the Bland?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 69:1-36. Verses 10-13, when have I been terribly unhappy with myself: ashamed, remorseful, broken? How did God show up?

II Samuel 19:1- 43. Restored as king, David shows kindness to Shimei, Mephibosheth, Ziba, and Barzillai. What lessons about leadership and statesmanship can I take from this chapter of David’s life?

Acts 15:30-41. Paul and Barnabas, brothers in Christ yet sharply at odds, part company. When have I experienced such a rupture of Christian fellowship? How did God show up?

Mark 9:42-50. Verse 50, what are the symptoms of my becoming a saltless or unsalty Christian? What can I keep doing from day to day to grow ever saltier in following Jesus?
