Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 73:1-28. Verse 20, when has my life seemed like a bad dream, from which God—himself ever awake—helped me waken and escape? Present application?
II Samuel 21:1-22. Four more enemy giants, similar to Goliath, slain by David’s men. What’s going on spiritually when it seems God is setting me the same problem to struggle with over and over again?
Acts 16:13-24. God opens Lydia’s heart to the gospel. How does this occur, by what signs can we see it happening? Whom do I know that may be reaching this point of receptivity right now?
Mark 10:13-16. Related, what are some of the childlike qualities Jesus requires of me, in order to be ready to enter the kingdom of God?
