Bible Tuesday 8/23: Golgotha

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 126:1-6. Verses 5 and 6, when has God turned my weeping into rejoicing? How does that experience encourage me amid present troubles?

II Kings 1:1-18. Ahab’s son persists in idolatry and pays with his life. What individual or institution in our country today has the prophetic authority—similar to Elijah’s—to confront and subdue godless leaders?

Acts 27:1-12. Verses 9-11, when have I had to choose between conflicting guidance from advisers taking a supernatural perspective versus those with a strictly human perspective? What did I learn?

Mark 15:16-32. How is this day a better day in my life because of the work Jesus did for me on the cross, the sacrifice he made for me?
