Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 59:1-17. Verses 6 and 14, what noisy threats, in the news or in my own life, does God want me to dismiss like so many barking dogs? Verse 8, if I join God in laughing them off today, how will others notice?
Job 23:1-17. Job, trembling, insists on God’s righteousness. Verse 12, what words from the mouth of God are more life-giving to me than all the food I will eat today? How can I thank him?
II Corinthians 5:1-21. Verse 17, what’s one way I am a different and better person as a result of knowing Jesus? Verse 20, toward whom, and by what words or actions, can I be an ambassador of Christ today?
Luke 8:19-25. Verse 21, when have I had to decide between giving first priority to God or to my loved ones? How did it work out? Present application?
