Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 102:1-28. Verses 23-27, what have been the best year and worst year of my life? How did God use both of those for my growth? If with his help I could make this year my new best, what would that look like?
Genesis 40:1-23. God helps Joseph interpret dreams, but apparently all for nought. What must have been his spiritual condition at that point? When has God’s delay or silence left me discouraged?
Romans 3:1-8. Verse 8, God warns that the end does not justify the means. How does this help me chart a Christian pathway through current political and cultural confusions?
Matthew 12:9-21. Verse 12, Jesus, as if stating the obvious, remarks that a man is better than a sheep. Why do prevalent beliefs now cast doubt on that? What’s the consequence? What can my church do?
