Bible Tuesday 1/17: Panting

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 42:1-11. Verse 2 KJV, my soul thirsts for God. How can I express in everyday language this poetic line about some need, desire, or impulse stirring in me? What false answers must I reject? What’s to be done today?

Genesis 17:1-27. God renames the patriarch as Abraham and requires personal bloodshed from him. What has it cost me to be in covenant with God? What further cost may I soon have to pay?

Hebrews 9:1-10. Why does it matter to me that the way into the Holy of Holies wasn’t known under Aaron’s priesthood, but only under that of Jesus? What do I have as a Christian that Jews or Muslims don’t have?

Matthew 6:25-34. Verse 33, reviewing the past year, what did I seek more diligently than I sought the kingdom of God? How can I make a practical and permanent change in my priorities starting today?
