Bible Sunday 11/5: Build Not on Sand

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 12:1-8. Verse 8, how does this specifically play out in our times, that evil gains wide influence when godless persons are held up to be celebrated and imitated? What is my church doing about it?

II Chronicles 13:1-22. Outnumbered 2:1 by the rebels who deserted Yahweh, King Abijah prevails. Where do I most need God’s help today in beating the odds and glorifying his name?

Colossians 3:18-4:1. Portrait of the well-ordered Christian household. For what blessings shall I thank God today, which came to me because of—or perhaps in spite of—my human family?

Luke 20:9-19. Verse 17, how would a non-believing neighbor or coworker, observing me for a few days, know without my saying so that Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of my life?
