Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 8:1-9. Verses 4-6, what help does God have for me, through this psalm, on those days where I feel utterly unworthy of angels, unfit for a crown, incapable of dominion?
II Chronicles 12:1-16. Rehoboam, a bad king with occasional good moments. Verses 7 and 12, when has God mercifully shielded me from the worst consequences of my own sins? Present application?
Colossians 3:1-17. Verses 9 and 10, off with the old man, on with the new. What is one clear step of spiritual growth I’ve accomplished with Jesus’ help? What’s another step of growth I want to achieve now?
Luke 20:1-8. Moral cowardice of the Jewish leaders. How are my moral courage, and that of my church, specifically tested in these wicked times? As Jesus marks my report card, is the grade A or C or F?
