Bible Tuesday 11/28: Taking Advent Seriously

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 77:1-20. Verses 6-11, who is better at remembering, me or God? Who is more prone to forget, me or God? What grateful memories of Him shall I hold in mind, all day today?

II Chronicles 36:1-23. Verse 23, God uses a foreign king, Cyrus, to further his purposes for Israel. As a citizen, how can I spiritually train myself to be humble, trustful, hopeful, and receptive to the unexpected?

Revelation 12:1-6. King Jesus, ordained to rule all nations, and Mary his mother, protected of God. How wil Advent be different for me if I embrace not only its earthly but also its cosmic significance?

Matthew 24::36-44. If Jesus returns today, what do I want him to find me doing?
