Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 102:1-28. Verses 9 and 17, when were things so bad it seemed ashes and tears were my only food and drink? How did God show up? Application to present needs?
Daniel 1:1-21. Related, young Jews at Nebuchadnezzar’s court say no to his rich diet. Spiritually considered, have I in some ways been “feeding” on worldliness that tends to distance me from God?
Revelation 17:7-18. The whore and the beast make war on the Lamb and are defeated. How does this resemble current news? Do I sometimes overreact to the news, forgetting we know how the story ends?
Matthew 5:33-37. Couldn’t Jesus make better use of me today if all my thoughts and words reflected only the meekness and simplicity of Christ?
