Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 5:1-12. Verse 7, come into Thy house. Because this doesn’t just mean showing up regularly at the place where Christians gather to worship God, do I sometimes kid myself it doesn't mean at least that?
Deuteronomy 2:1-37. Moses reminds Israel in detail of all God’s protection and provision for them. What specific instance of God’s care in 2023 shall I cherish in memory as the trials of 2024 unfold?
Matthew 2:19-23. Joseph is repeatedly told in dreams, how to keep Jesus and Mary safe and well. What more could I be doing in my daily prayers and practices to tune in more sensitively on God’s guidance?
John 1:19-28. Verse 23, make straight the way of the Lord. Setting aside all external things, focusing only on my own heart and mind, what exactly is God requiring of me here?
