Bible Wednesday 2/22: Into Lent

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 127:1-5. Verse 1, what have I been trying to do mostly on my own, with too little reliance on God? Action point for today?

Joel 2:1-32. Verse 25, God restores the years eaten by locusts. What would it look like for God to somehow recompense me for a bygone time of sorrow and loss that still weighs heavy on my heart?

Proverbs 1:1-19. Verses 7-10, in this Lenten season, six weeks to Easter, what simple daily practices can I follow to tune in on the wisdom of God and tune out the allurements of sin?

Matthew 6:16-24. Verse 24, related question, what does the inclination to try and serve two masters specifically look like in my busy life? How can I push back against that?
