Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 23:1-6. Verse 5, in what specific way is it true that my cup (of blessings) runs over? How can I express to God today my gratitude for that?
Proverbs 16:1-33. Verses 9, 25, 33, what plan or project am I approaching right now with too much self-reliance and too little God-reliance? Prayer point for today?
Romans 13:1-7. Is my approach to politics well-balanced between meek humility, fighting spirit, and earnest prayer? Which of those do I need to dial up or dial down?
Matthew 19:13-15. Related question, how can I reconcile my civic zeal for our country—threatened at present—with the childlike qualities Jesus requires of me here?
