Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 70:1-5. Verses 1 and 5, make haste, O God. What do I want him to hurry up and do right now? What am I stressed out and tired of waiting for? What would answered prayer look like today?
Zechariah 4:1-14. Verse 6, related, what have I been trying to do by human effort, that I should instead trust to God’s irresistible Spirit?
I Corinthians 6:12-20. Verse 19, how does knowing that my body is God’s temple change my whole outlook on sin, sickness, and all forms of self-indulgence? Action point for today?
Matthew 23:15-28. What have I done recently that makes Jesus warn me sadly, “Woe to you, blind fool”? What’s to be done?
