Bible Saturday 5/27: Famous in Bethlehem

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 69:1-36. If I was to sing God a psalm of sadness, weariness, discouragement, and pleading today, what would I say? What answer of hope from him would I listen for, similar to verses 29-34?

Joel 1:1-20. Verses 13-16, related question, if my church congregation were to assemble and lament together for all the sin in our community and in our midst, what would some of those sins be?

Ruth 4:1-22. Verses 11 and 17, the Gentile woman Ruth is adopted into the lineage of Israel and becomes David’s great-grandmother. How can my church be more welcoming of all who seek Christ, no exceptions?

John 17:1-10. Verses 2 and 3, as I lay claim today to the eternal life that Jesus gives, how does my “here and now life” suddenly become different? Action point?
