Bible Friday 6/30: Caleb the Brave

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 147:1-20. Verse 14 KJV, God makes peace in our borders. Do I believe this? What’s a short, simple prayer I can camp on to pacify America’s domestic strife? And one to calm our chaotic borders?

Numbers 13:1-33. Verses 30 and 31, what situation is currently testing me, as between acting with the courage of Caleb or the timidity of his comrades. How will God help me know caution from cowardice?

Acts 9:20-30. Verses 23 and 29, Saul (now Paul) faces multiple assassination plots. What has been the cost of discipleship for me so far? How much more costly will it get? How shall I prepare?

Mark 4:21-25. Related, what can I be doing this summer to put the candle of my Jesus faith a little more on the candlestick and a little less under the basket?
