Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 62:1-12. Verses 9-11, what new opportunities for accomplishing good things are opened to me today if I focus more on God’s power and less on human personalities high or low?
Hosea 1:1-11. Verses 9 and 10, what will it take for God’s people—in this country, at this time—to return and begin serving him more faithfully as in former times? What is my church doing about it?
Acts 20:17-38. Verse 24, finish my course with joy; Paul’s determination to complete the lifework Jesus gave him to do. What is the lifework Jesus has given me to do? Am I sticking at it with joy?
Mark 10:46-52. Verse 51, the question Jesus so often asks: “What do you want of me?” Am I ready with my answer to Jesus today? Will it be the safe option, or the daring option—from the heart?
