Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 68:1-35. Verses 28, 34, 35 KJV. Taking stock today, according to the worldly definition of strength, what is strong in my favor and what is strong against me? Do I trust that God is far stronger than either of those?
Hosea 2:1-23. God will reconcile with Israel as with an unfaithful spouse—after she has suffered much. Verse 14, is the initiative entirely up to him? What is my church doing to get us ready for this? My role?
I Peter 2:1-10. Verses 5 and 9, isn’t there more—much more—I could be doing to live up to this job description of the true Christ-follower? What’s my first step today?
Mark 11:1-11. Jesus enters Jerusalem, acclaimed as king. Keeping it real, what is the highest practical service I can render to King Jesus as I go about my day today?
