Bible Friday 8/11: Angel with a Sword

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 104:1-35. Verse 34, how will meditating upon God bring sweetness into my day today? Or is this just shallow sentimentalism, unsuited for tough times?

Joshua 5:1-15. The captain of God’s angel armies appears to Joshua. What do I most need to have God’s angels do for me today? Am I hesitant to pray for this, fearing it will go unanswered?

Acts 24:1-9. The public prosecutor makes Paul out to be an enemy of the people. In weeks to come, if I were to push my witness for Jesus out of the safe zone and into the zone of conflict, what would that look like?

Mark 14:43-52. At Jesus’ arrest, his men’s reaction ranges from fight (verse 47) to flight (verse 52). Had I been there, which would I have done? Or is there a third way? Application for me today?
