Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 36:1-12. Verse 2, flattering ourselves. How am I susceptible to this? Why is it wrong? What attitude does God want me to take instead?
Numbers 27:1-23. Moses prepares to exit the stage of history. What can I learn from the character and lifework of this towering servant of the Lord? Action point for today?
Acts 16:16-24. What entrenched interests of money, prestige, and power does the name of Jesus Christ threaten in our community? Does my church actively pose such a threat, or are we rather tame?
Mark 8:11-21. Verse 15, same basic issue, how boldly does my church (helped by me) oppose the modern-day leaven of Herod and the Pharisees with the leaven of King Jesus?
