Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 12:1-8. Verse 8, how well does this describe our cultural moment in 2023? What is my church doing about it? My role?
Numbers 19:1-22. The Israelites’ endless, but fruitless, quest to be truly clean. To me, as a follower not of Moses but of Jesus, what does the problem of being clean or unclean in God’s sight mean today?
Acts 14:1-7. The apostles flee Iconium ahead of a lynch mob. What, if anything, has faith in Jesus cost me so far? Will the cost soon increase? How much would be too much for me?
Mark 6:30-44. What situation am I concerned about right now where there’s a need for not-nearly-enough to become more-than-enough? Do I believe Jesus can do it? Action point for today?
