Bible Sunday 8/27: Time Out

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 139:1-24. Verses 7-10, what situation am I facing right now, where it’s important to realize God is present, active, and in control?

Joshua 21:1-45. Verses 43-45, completeness of God’s fulfillment of all his promises to Israel in possessing Canaan. Has it ever seemed God has only taken me halfway on something important? Can it be?

II Corinthians 1:15-2:2. Verses 17-22, related, am I following a Jesus who says to me “Yes, sort of,” or one who says “Yes, absolutely”?

Luke 5:12-16. Verse 16, what if I found a way to do more often as the Lord did here: slow down, get alone, and pray harder?
