Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 140:1-13. What kinds of malicious attacks, subtle or blatant, are coming against me, my family, and fellow believers right now—for which this psalm can be our all-sufficient prayer of defense?
Joshua 22:1-34. Phineas leads a diplomatic mission to the tribes in trans-Jordan. What forces tend toward schism in the body of Christ at the present time? What is my church doing about it? My role?
II Corinthians 2:3-11. Related, what opportunities can I find today for conciliation and comity—not antagonism and enmity—among neighbors within my circle, God helping us all?
Luke 5:17-26. Related again, for whom can I lend a hand (perhaps literally) in bringing him or her into the healing presence of Jesus today?
