Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 145:1-21. Verse 15, all eyes on God. What lesser things will tend to attract my gaze instead, as I go through this day? How can I keep the Almighty more constantly in view, moment to moment?
Joshua 23:1-16. Verse 6, Joshua’s career closes as it opened, with God’s command to be courageous. By what marks would an observer know that I’m living this day with spiritual courage, not spiritual cowardice?
Mark 6:14-29. Verses 18 and 19, related, as John called out the king’s sin and paid with his life, what Christian leaders today are showing any such courage? My church’s role? My role?
II Corinthians 2:12-3:3. Verses 14-16, by what attitudes and actions would people sense that I have about me the savor of Jesus—his scent, aroma, fragrance, or atmosphere?
