Bible Friday 9/15: Resisting Christ

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 40:1-17. Verse 1, what situation right now challenges me to wait patiently on God? Today, another day of waiting, what expression will others see on my face as I bide His time?

Judges 16:1-31. Verse 28, Samson’s last prayer. “Only this once, O God.” When have I realized, amid defeat and discouragement, that it’s not too late to pray and see God show up?

II Corinthians 11:16-33. Verses 23-31, Paul counts the cost of discipleship. What price have I paid so far for following Jesus? What’s one obvious way I could push out the boundaries of my comfort zone?

Luke 8:26-39. Verses 28 and 37, why is the worldly mind so desperate to be rid of Jesus? What’s my toolbox for disarming the resistance and offering the gospel?
