Bible Tuesday 9/5: The Call

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 12:1-8. Verse 6, what’s a verse or thought from God’s word, the Bible, that I would value above the purest silver? How will this help me prevail in all the demands of my day?

Judges 6:1-40. God’s gradual preparation of Gideon for his mission. What mission has God been preparing me for? What’s the next step? How available am I?

II Corinthians 6:11-7:1. Verse 14, related, am I yoked with unbelievers—by thought or deed—in any way that limits my usefulness to Jesus?

Luke 6:37-49. The year is well along. Have I been building on rock—active obedience to Jesus—or on sand? What of my friends and loved ones? What of my church?
