Bible Monday 10/2: Our Jerusalem Birthright

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 81:1-16. Verses 5 and 10, what is my personal “delivered out of Egypt” anchor point that attests God’s faithfulness come what may? How can I hold tight to that all day today?

I Chronicles 8:1-40. More about Israel’s patriarchal families. Why is the spirit of this world so set on destroying the God-ordained traditional family? What’s to be done?

Galatians 4:21-31. Verse 26, my birthright of freedom as a citizen of the New Jerusalem. How does this status, belonging to me in Jesus Christ, shape all the experiences that await me today?

Luke 11:33-44. How am I to go about realizing what Jesus promises here, that my whole being can be filled with more and more light, less and less darkness? First step right now?
