Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 40:1-17. Verse 1, what’s testing my patience right now, as I wait on God? Verse 3, what new song is he teaching me, during this time? Verse 8, do I, like the psalmist, take delight in obeying God?
Hebrews 10:1-10. Asserting that Jesus’ sacrificial self-offering for our sins was foretold in Psalm 40, hundreds of years in advance. How am I specifically blessed today by realizing this?
Deuteronomy 23:1-25. Miscellaneous laws. Would I rather live in a time and place where God makes the laws or where we humans make them for ourselves? Or a mixture of the two?
Matthew 10:27-33. You are of more value than many sparrows. How am I specifically blessed today by realizing this?
