Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 67:1-7. Verses 6 and 7, first the people praise, then the blessings come. Seems to be in reverse order from what we expect. For what blessing—not yet evident at all—shall I praise God in advance today?
Deuteronomy 24:1-22. Verse 16, God disallows inherited guilt or collective guilt. Is my church clear on this, amidst today’s outcry for social justice and identity politics?
Hebrews 10:11-18. Verse 13, what would it look like today for me to witness even a small part of Jesus’ enemies being made his footstool? What active role in that process might the Lord expect of me?
Matthew 10:34-42. What would it look like for the sword of Jesus’ righteousness to be felt among my nearest and dearest today? To whom can I give up cup of cold water in Jesus’ name today?
