Bible Thursday 1/25: From John's Prison Cell

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 68:1-35. Verses 5 and 6, God’s loving and authoritative intention for families. How can my church start doing more for families? My role?

Deuteronomy 25:1-19. Miscellaneous laws, continued. Would I rather live in a country where the laws are made by God or by human beings? Or a mixture?

Hebrews 10:19-31. Verse 25, how can I better fulfill God’s command that we faithfully assemble with fellow Christians?

Matthew 11:1-6. Thinking about how John’s imprisonment (and impending death) must have shaken both him and Jesus—what experience of mine, past or ongoing, desperately drives me closer to God?
