Bible Friday 1/26: Intense

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 69:1-36. Verse 9, if I set out to live this year with a greater zeal for God than ever before, what attitudes and actions would that require of me? How would others notice?

Deuteronomy 26:1-19. What does it mean to give God my first fruits, here and now when few of us are farmers? Verse 14, never cutting corners in my obedience to God: how does this apply in my daily life?

Hebrews 10:32-39. Verses 35 and 36, confidence wins God’s reward. Patience reaps His promise. When have I experienced this? Does it just mean getting what I wanted?

Matthew 11:7-19. Verse 16, Jesus warns against childish mood swings. How am I susceptible to this? What is God’s antidote?
