Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 34:1-22. Verse 4, if I make this a day of seeking the Lord, what attitudes and actions on my part would that involve? How would others notice?
Deuteronomy 13:1-18. Moses decrees that enticing the Israelites to follow other gods is punishable by death. As Christians in America, how do we square this with the ideal of religious freedom?
Hebrews 5:1-14. Verse 12, in seeking to know and serve God better, do I have in my spiritual diet at present the right mix of milk and meat?
Matthew 8:23-27. How can I obtain—or am I even allowed to want—some measure of the holy calm and composure that enabled Jesus to sleep through that storm?
