Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 29:1-11. What are some ways I can perceive the voice of the Lord, silent but mighty, all around me today? How will I benefit from doing so?
Deuteronomy 12:1-32. Verse 8, why does God warn against everyone doing what is right in his own eyes? Isn’t that the American ideal of freedom and liberty? Does my church agree? ( Compare verse 28.)
Hebrews 4:11-16. Verse 16, come boldly to the throne of grace. Why do I eagerly accept this invitation? Why do I come with trembling even so?
Matthew 8:18-22. What dead things am I hanging onto, that get in the way of my unreservedly following Jesus?
