Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 31:1-24. Verses 1 and 17, how important or unimportant is shame to me, and why? What would it look like for God to step in and see that I need never be ashamed again?
Deuteronomy 11:1-32. Verses 26-28, God offers Israel a choice: be blessed or be cursed. What important choice will God offer me today?
Hebrews 4:1-10. What would it look like for me to enter into God’s rest today, in the midst of all my necessary activities?
Matthew 8:14-17. What was actually taking place when Jesus put out his hand and touched someone sick or even someone dead? Is that connection still available even though he’s not physically here?
